The Acute Rehab Unit (ARU) at Peterson Regional Medical Center is a specially designed inpatient rehabilitation unit. The goal of the ARU is to return each patient to his or her highest level of independent living. Ambulatory Surgery Center The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), part of the Peterson Regional Medical Center, is located on the same campus as the hospital. The ASC was designed to provide Surgery, Endoscopy, Pain Therapy, and IV therapy on an outpatient basis in a comfortable, convenient environment. learn more

PRMC's CCIR (Cardiac Catheterization/Interventional Radiology) is designed for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart disease as well as peripheral vascular system blockages. Our Cardiologists and specially trained staff allow patients to be diagnosed and treated close to home without traveling to another facility. learn more
Credentialed respiratory therapists provide diagnostic and treatment services for inpatients with acute or chronic lung and cardiac diseases. EKG, EEG, cardiac and pulmonary stress testing, metabolic studies, complete pulmonary function testing and blood and gas analysis are some of the diagnostic services available. Care Coordination (Social Services) The Care Coordination staff assists patients while they are in the hospital and help with discharge planning. Our professional nurses, social workers and support staff act as referral or placement liasions with specialized care options such as nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitative centers, home health services and hospices. PRMC has the only Medicare-certified diabetic disease management program in the Hill Country. Specially trained Nurse Educator teaches patients of all ages how to manage their diabetes with proper nutrition, carbohydrate counting, medication, exercise and home blood-sugar testing. learn more
Peterson provides services for both inpatients and out-patients with 64-slice, 40-slice & 16-slice CT scanners, a new wide-bore high-def MRR, digital mammography, ultra-sound and arteriography. Same day and after-hours appointments are available for the convenience of our patients and physicians. The imaging services at Peterson Regional Medical Center rival those at much larger health systems.
Registered dieticians oversee mean and menu planning to create meals that are nutritious, delicious and helpful in the recovery of each patient. Nutrition consultations and educations are available for patients with special medical dietary needs such as diabetes, congestive heart failure and COPD. learn more
ECP (External Counter Pulsation) is a unique non-invasive treatment for patients with angina, congestive heart failure and coronary other conditions that limit daily activities with shortness of breath and chest pain. ECP can greatly increase the quality of life for those with these conditions by creating better blood flow to the heart.
A special trained emergency medical staff is on duty 24/7 to provide immediate treatment for acutely ill or injured patients. PRMC also works closely with several hospital based helicopter medical transport services, to provide immediate transport to San Antonio or Austin, if necessary. learn more
Peterson Home Care is a comprehensive team of healthcare professionals providing residents of the Hill Country with the compassionate, quality nursing and support care in their homes. ICU and the Intermediate Care (IMC) units are equipped with state of the art technology. Our ICU is a 9 bed unit. The IMC unit is a 6 bed step-down unit allowing patients to receive transitional care in between ICU and a regular nursing unit. Both areas are staffed by specially trained nurses and other professional healthcare providers who are experts in caring for severely ill or injured patients. learn more
Peterson's clinical laboratories use advanced, computer-controlled analysis and monitoring equipment to serve the needs of our patients. In additions to the inpatient hospital lab, Peterson also has labs located at the Ambulatory Care Center (260 Cully Street) and at the Outreach Lab at Five Points (320 W. Nurse Navigator: Oncology The Oncology nurse navigator is a specially trained registered nurse who serves as a personal guide for cancer patients and their families as they journey through the diagnosis and treatment process. The oncology nurse navigator is a resource for patients and families, helping them find reliable information on their diagnosis, coordinating medical care and offering a caring heart when patients and their families simply need a friend. Rehabilitation Services (Outpatient) Outpatient Rehab Services includes Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Certified Hand Therapists and Pulmonary Therapists all providing quality patient care. Outpatient Rehab services also include aquatic therapy, balance and vestibular training, low vision training, sports medicine therapy and community re-entry training. Pharmacy The Peterson Regional Medical Center Pharmacy supplies all in-patient medications. An electronic medication system (eMAR) provides a high level of safety and improved quality of care. Our sophisticated pharmacy computer and software system enables pharmacists, physicians and nurses to check for drug and interactions and drug allergies.
Sleep Disorder Diagnostic Testing (Sleep Lab) Peterson Regional Medical Center provides an on-site sleep disorder diagnostic testing facility. The diagnostic sleep testing is done by Kerrville Sleep Center in comfortable, hotel-like rooms using the most modern technologies available. Accurate diagnoses of a variety of sleep disorders is our goal. An estimated 40 million Americans suffer from some form of sleep-disordered breathing, with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) being the most prevalent. Our comprehensive Wound Care Center provides state-of-the-art treatment and wound management for patients with non-healing wounds. The Wound Healing Center is located in the Ambulatory Care Center. The Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) nurse navigator works with a multidisciplinary team to provide improved comprehensive care for CHF patients. The CHF nurse navigator works initally with hospitalized CHF patients and then follows them when they are discharged to Peterson Home Care, coordinating their treatment- including ECP- and helping them to learn to manage their condition.
